The Lullabee Phases

The Lullabee Phases

Learn how Lullabee works in practice, from the Support to the Weaning phases.

Lullabee’s goal is to help soothe your child to sleep when needed, adapt to their changing sleep patterns as they grow, and nurture them into independent, confident sleepers. It’s a temporary use of technology to create a lasting change.

The mattress works in two phases: Support and Weaning. Let’s go over each one.

Phase 1: The Support Phase

When you first start using Lullabee, it will automatically be in Support phase.

During the Support phase, the mattress learns your child's sleep patterns while supporting them with every awakening.  If it detects your child is both moving and crying, it will produce a gentle vibration and a soothing sound.  The vibration and sound start low at Level 1; if your child continues to cry, the level increases every 10 seconds until it reaches Level 10. Even at level 10, the vibration and audio are intended to be gentle and not excessive.

Once your child falls back to sleep, Lullabee will continue at the same output level for another 2 minutes, then slowly decrease every 10 seconds until it stops at Level 0. Lullabee does not produce any vibration or sound for most of the night.  It only goes into action when your child needs it.

Over time, your child should get accustomed to falling asleep quickly with the help of the mattress. Once the mattress detects that your child is doing well, it will automatically move into the Weaning phase.

Phase 2: The Weaning Phase

Once your child has moved into phase 2, the mattress slowly decreases the maximum vibration and sound level it will produce on any given night.

For example: If your child received up to Level 10 vibration and audio support the previous night, Lullabee will only escalate to Level 9 the next night.  If your child continues to do well, the level of support it provides each night will decrease.  As the level of support decreases, your child is learning to fall asleep more independently. Over time, the goal is to reduce the support down to zero once your child is ready to become an independent sleeper.

There are five choices for vibration patterns and five choices for audio. Feel free to mix and match to find the one that best suits your child!  If your child doesn’t like vibration or prefers not to have audio at night, you can turn either one completely off through the app.
